A:WKnife offers two types of electrodes: monopolar needles and bipolar integrated needles. The bipolar integrated needle is 100–400 mm long with an outer diameter of 18G (1.23 mm), requires no additional muscle relaxant, and is suitable for routine ablation. The monopolar needle is 80–150 mm long with a thinner outer diameter of only 19G (0.96 mm), making it suitable for smaller wounds or larger lesions. The clinical choice is determined by the tumor’s location, size, and surrounding tissue structure; the single-needle approach has lower puncture difficulty, while the dual-needle approach covers a wider area.
A:Winonco has cumulatively applied for more than 200 domestic and international invention patents, of which 17 are PCT international invention patents, achieving full-chain coverage from underlying principles to product applications. Its core invention patent at the underlying-principle level has been granted in both China and the United States, and the originality of its core technology has won global authoritative recognition. Winonco is the first of its kind at home and abroad and the only team in China to possess core independent intellectual property rights in the field of pulse ablation, thoroughly breaking the overseas technology monopoly and building a solid patent barrier for the overseas expansion of domestic high-end medical devices. Winonco has passed the intellectual property management system certification and established an innovation framework that meets the requirem
A:WKnife is a new-generation irreversible electroporation (IRE) tumor ablation system independently developed by Hangzhou Winonco Medical Technology Co., Ltd., with the formal product name “Steep Pulse Therapy Device.” Unlike traditional radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, and cryoablation, which rely on extreme temperatures, WKnife disrupts the phospholipid bilayer of tumor cell membranes through a high-voltage pulsed electric field, forming nanoscale irreversible pores and inducing tumor cell apoptosis. Its core advantage is “neither cold nor hot, selective ablation” — while inactivating the tumor, it fully preserves important ductal structures such as blood vessels, nerves, and bile ducts, fundamentally avoiding the damage to normal tissues caused by the heat-sink effect and temperature diffusion.
A:Winonco Medical is the only team in China that possesses core independent intellectual property rights in the field of pulse ablation. Its technological origin can be traced back to the National Natural Science Foundation key project undertaken in 2000 by Professor Yao Chenguo’s team at Chongqing University. In 2002, this team was the first in the world to propose a new method of ablating tumors by irreversible electroporation using high-voltage ultrashort pulsed electric fields, establishing China’s position of original innovation in this field. Through three generations of technological iteration (monopolar → bipolar → broadband synergistic pulse), Winonco has cumulatively applied for more than 200 domestic and international invention patents (including 17 PCT international patents); its core invention patent at the underlying-principle level has been granted in both China and the United States, thoroughly breaking the overseas technology monopoly. The company’s product “WKnife” is the world’s first nanoknife device to achieve “single-needle ablation + local anesthesia” while holding dual indications for liver and pancreas, and has completed the NMPA Class III medical device registration testing.
